Nice portrait. I'm not sure, this is pastel, right? Whatever the case the handling is exquisite.
Your 'Morsels' post, the second one, reminds me of an Orientalist painting I saw at the Louvre -- a Moorish decapitation I think. It's by Henri Regnault. Look him up if you're not familiar with the artist. This painting was a pretty gruesome one -- lots of blood.
